Summer dresses

About a month ago I decided I was getting a little burned out from work and needed an extra week in addition to the planned vacation we had already made in August.   My office is under going a lot of changes and despite my attempt to be open minded and I was very stressed and needed to time regroup.   In addition to taking the kids on outings I did get some sewing in.

My first dress I made is from Mod kid- it is called the Haily dress and I made it in a woven blue with mint dots.  The fabric might look familiar as I used the left overs and made Ava shorts that I showed on a previous posting.

This is my next version of the Mod Kid Haily Girls  pattern.  I made this dress in a knit.  Ava absolutely loves this dress and attempted to wear it all weekend.

My third Haily is also in a knit but this time I made the shirt version.   This pattern is so versatile and looks great with most fabrics.

I added a lettuce hem with my serger

My next project I switched patterns and used the Oliver and S playtime dress.  This is another nice basic dress that you can sew in either knits or woven.   I made a size 8 for Ava and I am thinking next time I might do a 7 but with 8 length.

Here is my final project for the last couple of weeks.  This dress is from Craftiness is not optional blog and it is the June Bug pattern http://www.craftinessisnotoptional.com/patterns   I had a few "Did I sew this wrong moments"- I realized I sewed the entire skirt inside out- that took quite sometime to rip out all the seams and start over.  I love this pattern- but I'm thinking either I should have again made a size 7 instead an 8 or my buttons are too heavy.  It tends to sag a bit in the chest.   The fabric a super soft double gauze in gray.
